The main photo above shows Martin Kaymer during the day one four-balls at the 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor. Cup rookie Kaymer teamed up to fine effect with the experienced Lee Westwood in this match; the pair earning a comfortable 3&2 victory over Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson in what was the opening match of the event. The same pairing then halved the 'Session 2' foursomes with Jim Furyk and Rickie Fowler; the American pairing making birdie at 18 to deny the European's victory. Martin can be seen playing an iron shot on the 9th hole during that match in the bottom left photo and it must have been a bitter pill to swallow to only take half a point after leading from the 2nd hole onwards. The young German bounced back though; teaming up with Ian Poulter to secure a 2&1 success over Mickelson & Fowler before running out of steam in the singles and going down to a heavy defeat to the belatedly in form Dustin Johnson. Overall though it had been an impressive Ryder Cup for Kaymer - his two and a half points from four games a vital return in this closest of contests.
