The year after Keegan became only the third player to win a Major on his debut he again was on the
leader board in 2012 and finished as the top U.S.A. player. The other two players to win on their debut where
Ben Curtis (Open 2003) and Francis Ovimet (US Open 1913)
Rory McIlroy's winning margin of eight strokes was a record for the Championship, beating Jack Nicklaus's
1980 seven stroke margin Keegan is here pictured at The Open a month earlier.
