Gary was the youngest of the Ella brothers to play for Australia at just under a year youngerthan his twin brothers Mark and Glen (see elsewhere on this site). He made his debut in 1982 but disappeared into the international wilderness after just four caps before returning after a near five year absence, during which he missed 31 games, against England in June 1988. He won one further cap in the next fixture - against New Zealand - and that brought to an end his career at international level. Gary is pictured above during the 1981 tour to the UK, a year before he made his debut for Australia.
