Richard was born in Rugby - the very place that the
game was invented by schoolboy William Webb Ellis in
1823.


Following his England debut as a replacement
against Argentina in May 1997, Cockerill went on to
feature in 26 of the next 29 internationals.


The main photo above shows Richard during the 67-7
victory against Italy at the 1999 World Cup whilst the
inset picture shows a delighted 'Cockers' celebrating the
13-7 win versus South Africa on 5th December 1998.
