The bottom left inset photo shows Jannie De Beer in
action during the 46-29 win against Scotland
at the
2003 World Cup. The remaining pictures are all from
the 27-21 defeat against Australia in the
semi-final
of the same tournament. Jannie had forced the game
into extra time with a late penalty
but it was the
Australians who prevailed in extra time, thus ending
South Africa's ten match winning
run in World Cup
Rugby. De Beer had enjoyed an extraordinary match
in the quarter-final against England,
landing a world
record five drop goals to help the Springboks to a
44-21 victory.
