Joost VAN DER WESTHUIZEN - South Africa - International rugby union caps for South Africa.

Joost Van Der Westhuizen was South Africa's most capped player upon his retirement in 2003.

At the time of his retirement the scrum-half's 89 Test appearances left him 12 caps ahead of the

Springboks second most capped player Mark Andrews.

 

Career Record: Played 89: Won 60, Drew 1, Lost 28 Test Points: 190 Tries: 38.

 

Joost Van Der Westhuizen died on Monday 6th. February 2017, aged just 45.


In 2011 he announced he had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a form of motor neurone disease (MND).
