| How to use the Search
Facility |
| Back
To Search |
|
| The easiest option is just to click on the
SEARCH button. This will show you the entire athletics-heroes pages,
featuring dozens of pages. |
|
| Single Category Search |
| You can use each of the boxes ( Name,
Country, Event, Decade ) on their own. For example, typing LEWIS
into the NAME box will return all athletes featuring the name LEWIS, such
as Carl Lewis, Denise Lewis, Steve Lewis and so on. By typing in the
full name, such as Carl Lewis, only records featuring Carl Lewis will be
found. |
|
| Using Two or More Boxes |
| You can combine the boxes to narrow the
search down. For example, you may select Event : 100m and Decade
: 1990s. This would return all athletes who took part in the
100m during the 1990s. |
| Another example would be Country : Great
Britain and Event : 1500m, which would return all British athletes
taking part in the 1500m. You could also extend this to include the Decade
: 1990s, which would return all British athletes taking part in the
1500m during 1990s only. |
| It should not really be necessary to fill in
all four boxes, and doing so may return no results. A good way to
start is to enter as little information as you need to get going.
You can always refine the search later. |
|
| I Can't Spell the Name! |
| If you can't spell an athletes name then
just enter the bit you can spell. Let the search engine do the
rest. For example, typing in Fitz will return Benita
Fitzgerald-Brown. |

| The date on which our photographs were taken
determine the decade under which it is stored. |
